Short description:
The Assessment of Key Gender-Based Drivers and Root Causes of Violent Extremism in Tajikistan aims to identify and analyze the gendered factors contributing to violent extremism in Tajikistan. By focusing on both men and women, the research will explore socio-economic, cultural, and political drivers of radicalization, particularly the role of women in extremist groups. UN Women and its government partners will utilize the research findings to shape policy recommendations, ensuring gender-responsive programs and interventions. These findings will facilitate inclusive processes and ensure increased women’s inclusion in policy discussions on this issue, identify specific training activities and awareness-raising campaigns to help women recognize early signs of violent extremism, develop effective alternative narratives. With the rise of violent extremism in Afghanistan posing a significant threat to Tajikistan’s security, particularly affecting women, continued support for women’s resilience against extremist groups is essential. To support this work, UN Women is looking for a local organization or research company to carry out the study on key gender-based drivers and root causes of violent extremism in the country, utilizing a mixed-methods approach, including desk reviews, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and surveys, ensuring unbiased analysis and inclusion of opinions from all population groups, including men, women, and youth.
