Short description: The Republic of Tajikistan received funding from the World Bank to cover the costs of the Strengthening Water and Irrigation Management Project (SWIM).

The project has four components: (i) Water Sector Reform and Institutional Strengthening, (ii) Improvement of Irrigation Systems, (iii) Project Management; and (iv) an emergency response component. The implementing agency is the Project Management Unit (PMU) under ALRI (PMU FVWRMP) and the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) under MEWR.

The development objectives of the project are: (i) capacity building in water resources planning and irrigation management in Tajikistan at the national and basin levels; and (ii) improving the efficiency of selected irrigation systems in the Vakhsh and Zarafshan river basins. As part of the project, it intends to create jobs and the SI PMU FVWRMP announces a competition for the following vacant position: Institutional Development Specialist/WUA.
