- Background
Aga Khan Health Services: With community health programmes in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, and more than 200 health facilities including nine hospitals, the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. AKHS provides primary health care and curative medical care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria and Tajikistan.
AKHS is implemeting new project focusing on nutrition and hygine and satnitation through Integrated Natural Resources Management in Zaravshon Valley for Equitable and Sustainable Development (INVEST). INVEST is the project of the European Commission Rural Development Program Phase II aims to improve rural livelihood by supporting the climate-resilient development of rural communities and by promoting sustainable agriculture and management of natural resources leading to better incomes of most vulnerable rural households in three districts of Zarafshan valley: Ayni, Panjakent and Kuhistoni Mastchoh.
AKHS Tajikistan is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the position of Community Mobilizer based in Ayni Disctrict. Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, INVEST project, the incumbent is expected to fulfill the following resposiblities:
- Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Primary Health Care (PHC) staff and develop a grassroots network of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) in the target districts as volunteers to raise awareness about community health issues, building a strong partnership with local health authorities, and delivering strong capacity-building initiatives and workshops
- Develop and present health education and promotion programs such as training workshops, conferences, and school or community presentations.
- Plan, implementing and evaluating training of trainers for CHP and PHC staff in three targets districts of Zarafshan Valley
- Conduct adequate training for CHPs by providing a complete background to the project and topic areas, briefings on nutrition specific activities and role-plays to ensure that they are well trained and can work with the communities
- Promote health-seeking behaviors and raise awareness about disease signs and symptoms by developing Behavior Change Communication (BCC) measures on nutrition using innovative strategies like flyers, digital methods etc
- Jointly with communication component prepare and distribute health education materials, including reports, bulletins, and visual aids such as brochures, films, videotapes, photographs, and posters.
- Document activities, recording information such as the numbers of referrals made by CHPs, presentations conducted, and persons assisted.
- Work with CHF Field officer and Communication Officer to plan BCC activities, support and complement other components within INVEST project
- Plan, implementing and evaluating training of trainers (ToT) for CHP in each three districts of Zarafshan Valley (Ayni, Panjakent and Kuhistoni Mastchoh districts)
- Support the DoH trainers in planning, implementing, and evaluating training workshops for DoH staff and CHP.
- Stickly follow- up and maintain requirements of AKHS Safeguarding policies and procedures.
- SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
Education:
- Medical Doctor or Nursing Diploma from a recognized University
Experience :
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
- Knowledge of Monitoring and Evaluation to enable track the activities of project activities, progress and results
- Ability to work under pressure and difficult situations
- Willingness to travel and spend extended period in the field
Technical Skills:
- Computer skills: proficient in using Ms Office packages
- Language skills: fluent in Russian and Tajik,
- Knowledge of English language is desirable
Personal Characteristics:
- Be respectful, accountable, well organized and proactive
- Honest, hardworking, committed to organization and a good team player
