“Ambassador for a Day” initiative dedicated to Glaciers Preservation brings together future women-diplomats in Dushanbe
30 April 2025
Second cohort of girls-activists are selected to spend a day with leaders in diplomacy within the "Ambassador for a Day" initiative.

This year the embassies, diplomatic missions and offices of international organizations invited eight finalists of an open video contest to join these entities on April 30th and May 2nd, 2025, to experience being an Ambassador for a day, gaining first-hand insight into diplomatic work, leadership, and global issues.
The European Union, France, Germany, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, Türkiye, the Swiss Cooperation Office, the United Kingdom, as well as the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office are the eight entities running the initiative this year.
This year’s initiative was dedicated to International Year of Glaciers Preservation and focuses on women’s leadership and climate action, recognizing the critical role that young people especially young women play in shaping a more sustainable and inclusive future.
The finalists were chosen through an open video contest held in March 2025 during the International Women’s Day campaign, where they shared their ideas for protecting glaciers and raising awareness of environmental challenges in Tajikistan. Their creative and passionate submissions highlighted the important role young people can play in climate advocacy.
Throughout the day participants will take part in interactive discussions, shadow diplomatic leaders, and explore how international cooperation addresses today’s most pressing issues. Each participant will receive a certificate of participation.
By opening our doors to the next generation of change makers, we reaffirm our shared commitment to empowering young women in Tajikistan, supporting gender equality, and encouraging youth leadership in addressing global challenges.
