Job Title: Project Officer

Background:
The "Raising awareness about the impacts of climate change, regulatory revisions, and suggested adaptation measures in Tajikistan" project is a nine-month initiative funded by UNDP Tajikistan and implemented by Equidev. This project aims to strengthen local communities' resilience to climate change and enhance government capacities in climate adaptation. Through participatory approaches and partnerships with the private sector, the project promotes sustainable resource management and adaptation strategies, particularly focusing on the agriculture and water sectors. The ultimate objective is to contribute to a climate-resilient Tajikistan with communities and stakeholders actively participating in adaptation and mitigation efforts.
Job Summary:
The Project Officer will play a critical role in coordinating and managing the day-to-day activities of the project. This includes liaising with key stakeholders, ensuring smooth implementation of the project’s work plan, supporting capacity-building initiatives, and facilitating community engagement efforts. The Project Officer will ensure that project deliverables are met on time, within scope, and aligned with the project’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in the development, planning, and implementation of project activities in accordance with the approved work plan.
- Coordinate with local government bodies, communities, private sector entities, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Monitor and evaluate project activities to ensure that goals are being met and provide regular reports on project progress to the Project Manager and UNDP.
- Support the organization of events such as workshops, trainings, and awareness campaigns related to climate change adaptation, agriculture, and water management.
- Facilitate capacity-building efforts for government officials, private sector representatives, and local communities.
- Conduct field visits to monitor project activities, collect data, and assess the impact of the project at the community level.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, prepare meeting minutes, and compile periodic progress reports.
- Support the Project Manager in managing project budgets and ensuring financial accountability for all project-related expenses.
- Collaborate with the communications team to ensure that project achievements and lessons learned are disseminated effectively.
- Contribute to the development of project-related knowledge products such as case studies, technical briefs, and reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, or sustainable development projects.
- Experience in working with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and international organizations.
- Proven track record of coordinating and managing projects, particularly in the areas of climate change, agriculture, or water management.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Tajik, Russian, and English is a significant benefit.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel within Tajikistan to project sites.
