WASH Trainer; Equidev

Public organization “Equitable Development”, or “Equidev” for short, is a new International Public Organization (IPO) founded by Oxfam in Tajikistan, and officially registered in the Republic of Tajikistan, in 2021.  Headquartered in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Equidev plans to have business operations across Central Asia and Afghanistan. In the first phase, the company will focus on developing business opportunities in Tajikistan. Oxfam-Equidev will sell consulting and advisory services to full range of aid organizations (bi-lateral, multi-lateral and private foundations), private companies, contractors and social entrepreneurs that are engaged in inclusive development and poverty reduction in the region. Job Title: WASH Trainer 

Key responsibilities

Project planning and implementation: 

• Prepares and practices sufficiently in advance of training sessions in order to deliver trainings successfully.
• Takes an active part in the revision and enrichment of training materials.
• Develops training schedules as per the training modules/content.
• Assists in designing pre-tests and post-tests to screen trainees before and after training sessions.
• Effectively uses the required training materials/aids during training sessions.
• Oversees and provides technical support in the design, implementation and monitoring of appropriate WASH interventions in close cooperation with the Project coordinator and technical staff on the ground.
• Builds capacity and knowledge of school staff (schoolchildren and teachers) in delivering WASH trainings and awareness campaigns.
• Conducts hygiene, sanitation, and other related trainings to school staff and target beneficiaries.
• Assists the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) survey team in conducting KAP surveys at the schools level 
• Prepares and reviews existing WASH information, education and communication (IEC) materials and generates a database of all these items.
• Conducts a training needs assessment prior to designing any trainings.
• Designs appropriate training materials for use in local community development work and for informal educational activities.
• Assists community and school WASH committees in developing operational work plans to conduct public education campaigns and repair and maintain water supply systems.
• Supports the identification of training needs for district WASH teams and provides technical support in training activities.
• Conducts behavioural change training in schools and communities on hygiene practices such as hand washing, water treatment, and latrine use.
• Develops and submits accurate monthly work plans and reports to the Project. 

Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Ensures that there is a pre and post-evaluation for every training event.
• Prepares the training impact report for the project manager/coordinator.

Reporting:  

Reports to the Project Coordinator on the appropriate implementation of project trainings as planned according to developed technical standards, schedules and timelines

Learning and Knowledge Management:

• Shares training lessons learned and best practices with project staff.
• Prepares learning/knowledge products, covering innovative approaches and good

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE: 

• EDUCATION:
  Advanced university degree in WASH / development studies / social sciences/public health or related field.
• 5 years of work experience in a relevant field including with social development training design, lesson planning, development of IEC materials/teaching aids, and with training conduction, facilitation, monitoring and supervision.
• Minimum of 3 years work experience specifically in WASH.
• Proficiency in computer software MS Office etc.
• Effective Communication & Representation Skills
• Knowledge of personal strengths and weaknesses, active listener
• Reporting writing skills
• Strong knowledge and experience in gender mainstreaming
• Fluent in Tajik and Russian (written and oral). Working knowledge in English is an advantage
