Internews announce vacancy in the new phase of the Regional Project
Internews is looking for an employee for a regional project aimed at improving objective and balanced coverage of current events in Central Asia, including conflicts and crises.
This is a project for media in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, within the framework of which it is planned to implement the second phase and two vacancies are opening with the possibility of being based in Bishkek or Dushanbe.
The Regional Project Manager oversees the project in two countries and is responsible for the implementation and results of the project as a whole.
Regional Project Manager
The Regional Project Manager will oversee logistical support and implementation of project activities, tasks, and outcomes in the two countries, as well as manage overall project communications in the country, including partner organizations and beneficiaries where he/she is located. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that the project meets its objectives as set out in the project, as well as for collaboration between the project teams of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Job responsibilities
• Provide programmatic, administrative and logistical management of all project-supported activities in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which are carried out in both countries.
• Potential responsibilities may include establishing and maintaining contacts with local media, editors, journalists, bloggers, active citizens and other relevant stakeholders, potentially including relevant government agencies; maintaining contact with beneficiaries, event speakers, trainers and participants; interaction with project employees in another country in conducting joint events or creating/promoting content and other responsibilities.
• Managing communication and project coordination between the Tajikistan country team and the Kyrgyzstan team.
• Coordinate recruitment and travel logistics for trainers, consultants and event participants with the project team. Responsibilities may include assistance with travel and accommodation arrangements, collecting and compiling recruitment materials, etc.
• Creative work with the project team and participants/beneficiaries to develop content ideas, ensure activity and involvement of participants in the project.
• Develop and maintain relationships with civil society and interested institutions/individuals to ensure their understanding, input and participation in the project.
• Monitor project activities and results in the country, including collaboration with grant recipients, with the support of the regional monitoring and evaluation specialist and head office.
• Prepare quarterly program reports with team input; editing of all program reports on the project both in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
• Be aware of the media situation, conflicts and problems based on disinformation/hate speech in the region.
• Identify and communicate any changes or issues related to planned project activities.
• Act in accordance with Internews policies, adhering to the mission and core values of the organization.
• Successfully apply knowledge of the content production process, which includes skills in developing a concept, technical specifications, scenario plan, as well as an understanding of the stages of content production.
Required Qualifications:
• More than 7 years of successful experience working with media or development projects, preferably in the media field;
• Relevant higher education;
• Deep understanding of the situation and problems of the media in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, including conflict-sensitive journalism, as well as the sphere of disinformation and incitement to hatred;
• Excellent analytical and writing skills;
• Excellent communication and presentation skills;
• Experience in preparing expense and budget reports;
• Willingness to learn and implement secure means of communication;
• Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail;
• Fluency in Russian, English and local languages (Tajik or Kyrgyz) at a professional level;
