Part-time Staff Attorney

The American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) has an opening for a Staff Attorney in its Dushanbe, Tajikistan office. The Staff Attorney will take a leadership role in implementing organizational programs on a part-time basis (3 full working days a week). The Staff Attorney will be responsible for direct implementation of ABA ROLI activities, including but not limited to their monitoring and evaluation, preparation of programmatic reports, and contracting with experts and vendors. The Staff Attorney will be involved in preparing legal materials and training programs, conducting legal research, needs assessment, and legal analysis, and developing proposals.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Law required. Master’s degree preferred;
- Proficiency in English, Russian, and Tajik;
- Minimum 3-5 years of work experience as a lawyer, preferably utilizing communication in English language (defense advocacy experience is a plus);
- Demonstrated experience in project management;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- High level of professionalism and diplomatic skills;
- Skilled at conducting legal research and analysis;
- Strong legal writing skills;
- Training skills;
- Ability to travel periodically within Tajikistan and the region;
- Excellent computer skills;
- Strong desire to contribute to legal reform processes in Tajikistan.
