BACKGROUND
Aga Khan Health Services: With community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, and more than 200 health facilities including nine hospitals, the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. Building on the Ismaili Community's healthcare efforts in the first half of the 20th century, AKHS now provides primary healthcare and curative medical care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to the government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria, and Tajikistan.
The Aga Khan Health Service, Tajikistan is looking for a qualified candidate for the Specialist Doctor (Cardiologist) based in Aga Khan Medical Centre, Khorog. Under the supervision of the Head of Clinical Service the incumbent is expected to fulfil the following duties and responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Comply with infection control standards.
- Conduct daily ward rounds for observation and review of patient’s conditions. Regularly monitor patients' progress
- Coordinate closely with nursing staff on carrying out of patient treatment plan, get update on treatment outcomes etc.
- Involve patient/family in making the treatment plan. Explain patient the test results with plan of care detail.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality all the time.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records about each patient, including observations during examinations, treatment plan, diagnosis, in designated forms Prescribe medication.
- Ensure complete discharge, referral and follow -up procedures.
- Run specialist clinics on a regular basis.
- Attend to adult emergency medical cases when necessary.
- Carry out adult emergency medical procedures.
- Counsel patients/families and relatives on health promotion and management.
- Maintain regular contacts with doctors of other departments to ensure harmonization of patients' management.
- Review and develop appropriate policies and procedures for patients' health care to formulate best practice guidelines.
- Ensure timely availability of required support services in the process of treating patients, particularly when referred to other specialists.
- Liaise with consultants on handling specialized cases in provision of patients' health care.
- Prepare timely and accurate medical reports and participate in clinical audits and mortality reviews.
- Observe and comply with environmental health and occupational safety measures and regulations.
- Attend Mortality and Morbidity meetings and ensures that active follow-up is done with the recommendations and conclusions from there-in
- Reinforce compliance with all hospital and clinical policies and procedures and quality assurance processes.
- Support linkage of department to other units and programs across the country
- Proactively learn and understand all AKHS policies and including Safeguarding policies and procedure.
- Stickly follow and maintain requirements of AKHS Safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager.
SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
Education:
- Graduated from a recognized Medical University.
- Postgraduate Medical University / Specialised training or equivalent from a recognized institution/ Masters in Internal Medicine from a recognized institution.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
Skills:
- Excellent inter-personal skills.
- Very good listening skills and be empathetic.
- Team player, analytical mind set and problem- solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
- Active listening - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Technical Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, Fluent in Tajik, and Russian.
- MS Office capabilities and working exposure to medical software is an advantage.
Personal Characteristics:
- Be respectful, must maintain confidentiality, well organized and proactive.
- Honest, hardworking, committed to organization and a good team player.
