BACKGROUND
Aga Khan Health Services: With community health programmes in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, and more than 200 health facilities including nine hospitals, the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. Building on the Ismaili Community's health care efforts in the first half of the 20th century, AKHS now provides primary health care and curative medical care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria and Tajikistan.
The Aga Khan Health Service, Tajikistan is looking for qualified candidate for the position of Pharmacy Technician based in Khorog, GBAO. Under the supervision of the Chief Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician expected to fulfil the following duties and responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the mission, vision, and core values of the organisation
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures
- Prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physicians’ medication prescription
- Dispense medications by packaging and labelling pharmaceuticals
- Complete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing by verifying their preparation and labelling of pharmaceuticals, verifying order entries, charges, and inspections
- Provide pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counselling patients on drug therapies.
- Maintain compliances with National drug laws as regulated by the State control over pharmaceutical activities, the Agency for control over narcotic and psychotropic drugs and sanitary inspection
- Maintain records for controlled substances
- Avoid the expiration of medicines following the principle of FIFO (First In First Out)
- Remove out-dated, near to expire, expired, and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory as per the defined policy
- Ensure medication should not remain within pharmacy till the expired dates within pharmacy.
- Ensure near to expired medications returned to the procurement department and returned to the vendor in stipulated time period as per the organizational policy
- Maintain current registration, studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, advising management on needed actions
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Sort, stock, label medication and monitor inventory
- Ensure chargeable items are charged for financial viability of the department and the cash collected submitted to Finance Office daily as defined in organization policy
- Maintain appropriate inventory on pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Maintains pharmacological knowledge and practice and remain updated
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Perform any other additional assignment as requested by the Line Manager
SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
Education:
- Diploma in Pharmacy/Pharmacology
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant working experience
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
- Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology
Technical Skills:
- MS Office capabilities, and medical software is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, Fluent in Tajik, and Russian
Personal Characteristics:
- Be respectful, must maintain confidentiality, well organized and proactive
- Honest, hardworking, committed to organization and a good team player
