PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Mercy Corps works to empower vulnerable communities in Tajikistan to become healthy, productive and resilient. Towards this goal we work on economic growth, youth and migration, health and WASH, and climate change and DRR. Building on U.S. Department of State funded Peaceful and Prosperous Neighborhood Program (PPN) Mercy Corps is expanding its program in youth sector. Youth Program focuses on preparing young Tajiks to better access current and future economic opportunities through life and work readiness skills, technical and business training, and improved skills training provision. The program will work with main stakeholders such as Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment and Ministry of Education (MoLME) Adult Education Centers (AEC) and Ministry of Education and Science (MoES) Centers of Additional Education (CAE) and will partner with the private sector, including global tech companies and local business.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security guard will work within the Admin/Logistics department of Operational Support structure of Mercy Corps, committed to provide reliable and compliant support to program activities to achieve efficient service to program beneficiaries. The Security guard will provide safe services for MC program and support staff in the described Functions required, through enforcing the established Mercy Corps Security Policy Guidelines. Security guard will provide security for Mercy Corps office in Dushanbe.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Security guard is responsible to provide the following:
- Provide guard services for MC office
- The guard should be medically fit and trained on security duties.
- The security guard should have at least primary education.
- The security guards provided should be free of any criminal history
- Be able to replace colleagues, fill the gap at any time due to unforeseen situation.
- If a guard is found misbehaving with the tenants of the building, organization staff, other guards, or anyone else in the building, MC remain responsible to terminated from duty immediately.
- Guards are working by shift according to guard’s timetable prepared by MC
- The guard should be able for the following activities:
- Be always vigilante – including, night shifts; (security guards sleeping on duty will be terminated immediately)
- To make rounds to check doors and other access points.
- Notify appropriate Mercy Corps staff member of arrivals.
- Manage the vehicle gate pass
- Deny entry to unauthorized people.
- Provide entry to authorized people.
- Question and detain people who enter the property without authorization.
- Act politely with all visitors who enter the property
- Security guards must deal effectively with members of the organization
- Guards must judge whether someone is a threat and how best to address the situation.
- Guards are also responsible to keep away people who do not have an appointment or a prior relationship with their employer. They also keep track of people who have been given access to the property and often give them a badge or some other form of identification to show they are allowed to be in the property.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor and Operations Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None. The Security guard will work closely with operations department and directly reports to Sr. Procurement Officer and/or Operations Manager.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable for following Mercy Corps the Security Manual.
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Senior Procurement Officer/Operations Manager
WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Operation Manager, Visitors and MC staff.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Responsible and trustworthy, punctual, clean. Must have initiative and work largely unsupervised.
