UNOPS delivers specialized medical beds to 13 hospitals that serve two million people in Tajikistan
06 August 2021
Through an initiative by and with the generous support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) delivered 225 mechanical hospital beds, including mattresses and bed sheets, to 13 hospitals in Dushanbe, Shakhrinav and Tursunzade, as well as the Kathlon and Sughd regions. The beds are expected to serve an area with a population of two million people, and approximately 6,700 patients will use them annually.
This support will benefit patients that require hospital treatment, including due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as long-term therapy. This project, initiated by KOICA and implemented by UNOPS, is in direct support of the strengthening of the priority health system, in line with the COVID-19 response plan of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population (MOHSPP) and wider UN interventions in Tajikistan.
