1. BACKGROUND

Aga Khan Health Services: With community health programmes in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, and more than 200 health facilities including nine hospitals, the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. Building on the Ismaili Community's health care efforts in the first half of the 20th century, AKHS now provides primary health care and curative medical care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria and Tajikistan.

The Aga Khan Health Service, Tajikistan is looking for qualified candidate for the position of Nurse based in Darvaz, GBAO, Outreach Health Centre. Under the supervision of the Family Medicine Doctor cum Admin, the Nurse expected to fulfil the following duties and responsibilities

2. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Establish and maintain safe and quiet environment for patients
• Maintain patient privacy and keep confidentiality of patient's information
• Comply with protocols, procedures and safety policies of the centre
• Carry out doctor’s order for patient and perform the task timely
• Demonstrate familiarity with the concepts of: Nursing quality assurance, nursing process and care plan, nursing policies and procedure, patient confidentiality infection control.
• Conduct rapid assessment and treatment to incoming patients in the initial phase of illness or trauma and often in life-threatening situations
• Carry out quick and accurate physical and mental health condition assessment
• Record patient history, perform various diagnostic tests, administer medications, injections, and develop patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals
• Checking the stock on a regular basis for maintaining the inventory level and placing orders if required.
• Adhere with the protocols, norms, rules and regulations in order to maintain complete medical records.
• Maintain hygienic and safe working environment in compliance with the healthcare procedures.
• Prepare rooms, and decontaminating equipment and instruments.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Assist doctors during any medical procedures
• Promote the autonomy of patients and help them to express their health needs and values to obtain appropriate information and services
• Apply and promote principles of equity and fairness to assist patients in receiving unbiased treatment and a share of health services and resources proportionate to their needs, prompt action on doctors’ request.

3. SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

Education:

•  Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution or Medical College

Experience:

• A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant working experience

Skills:

• Demonstrate ability to be self-directing in a health service while functioning within established policies and procedures
• Knowledge of current nursing practices with strong interpersonal skills

Technical Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, Fluent in Tajik, and Russian
• MS Office capabilities, and medical software is an advantage

Personal Characteristics:    

• Be respectful, must maintain confidentiality, well organized and proactive
• Honest, hardworking, committed to organization and a good team player
