The Branch of the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat in the Republic of Tajikistan works to ensure that people live in safe, sustainable, and resilient habitats with the opportunity to thrive, whether in a remote mountain village, a town, or a densely populated urban centre. AKAH also works to expand access to services and opportunities for people to improve their lives. AKAH helps communities prepare for the worst, provides immediate relief after disaster strikes, and helps build back better – and greener – while planning for a better future. Established in 2015, AKAH combines several agencies and programmes of the AKDN that have been working on housing, habitat, and disaster preparedness and relief since the 1990s in South and Central Asia.
The Branch of the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat in the Republic of Tajikistan is looking for highly qualified candidates for the Driver position.
JOB SCOPE
Under the supervision of the Analyst Fleet and or his/her nominees, the driver will be responsible for the pick-up and drop-off of employees to designated areas to carry on AKAH’s operations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- All drivers working must possess proper driving licenses and other related documentation
- Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services of office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, when required
- Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tyres, brakes, car washing, etc.
- All day-to-day car maintenance should take place outside working hours
- Ensures that any technical issues with vehicles should be immediately brought to the attention of the immediate supervisor for required actions
- Any damage to AKAH vehicles, caused by reckless driving will lead to the driver’s dismissal or disciplinary action against him
- AKAH vehicles cannot be utilized for any personal use, during or after office hours unless authorized by the Head of Department
- For security reasons, drivers are requested not to leave their cars unattended while parked outside or travelling on the field
- Ensures safe driving within the town/duty station and while on missions
- Ensures the safety and security of all employees, drivers are requested not to eat or drink and use mobile phones while driving
- Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents
- Running away from the scene of an accident will not be tolerated and will lead to prompt dismissal or any other disciplinary action
- All drivers must keep confidentiality of the movement and never disclose it to any other party. Failure to do so will lead to dismissal or disciplinary action against the driver
- AKAH vehicles cannot be used to transport or smuggle any illegal items such as weapons, drugs, etc. Committing this act will lead to prompt dismissal and severe punishment
- Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents
- Any other task(s) assigned by your supervisor or his/her nominee(s)
SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)
Education:
- School graduate. Valid Driver’s licence
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 (five) years of work experience as a driver with national or international Organizations
Skills:
- Good knowledge of driving rules and regulations
- Experience in driving various types of vehicles
- Good skills in minor vehicle’s repair
Technical Skills:
- Good skills in minor vehicle repair
Personal Characteristics:
- Should be physically fit.
