Cook Aid

Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) is an independent medical international humanitarian association that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or manmade disasters. MSF is working in Tajikistan in the field of Tuberculosis. Our projects focus on providing treatment and support for children suffering from MDR Tuberculosis (TB) and their families based in Dushanbe and Zero TB Project based in Kulob.

MSF is currently looking for a qualified, capable, flexible and motivated person for the position of Cook Aid for its Zero TB Project based in Kulob. Job Location: Kulob

Main Purpose

Assisting the cook in preparing meals for patients and MSF staff, according to MSF hygiene standards, procedures and security rules in order to ensure their nutritional needs.

Accountabilities

Assisting the cook in the preparation of and serving the meals on time for staff, following at all times all hygiene standard
Assisting the cook in preparing the shopping list and making the purchases, if required, in oder to have adequate food stock at all times
If applicable, setting table before every meal and cleaning it up after each meal
Supporting the cook in washing up, cleaning the kitchen, ensuring the provision of drinkable water, etc.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

Preparing food for the staff and visitors

Preparing, cooking, and serving a range of appetizing, nutritious meals for staff and visitors as required within the agreed timescales
Assisting the cook in developing nutritional menus within agreed catering budgets and following relevant local legislation and MSF policies and procedures regarding hygiene, health and safety
Assisting the cook to purchase and/or purchase list of ingredients on a regular basis after approval by line manager in line with MSF finance and supply procedures
Ensuring all food, drink and other edible ingredients are appropriately stored and distributed in collaboration with Logistics team, if needed
Ensuring crockery, cutlery and glass wear and any cleaning or cooking utensils maintained, cleaned, and stored appropriately
Providing assistance to the HR team for meal and coffee-break arrangements for and formal, informal, internal, and external events (e.g., workshops, trainings, team gatherings, etc.)
Keeping kitchen utensils and also premises of kitchen and dining rooms in clean and sanitary conditions
Following up with any other needed requests from Fin/HR Manager, Fin/HR Assistant, and HR Department
Working collaboratively with Cook, supporting them in any area needed related to the points mentioned above
Covering for Cook in their absence, ensuring the continuity of provision of food for all staff

Requirements
Education	Literacy essential, course on cooking desirable.
Experience	Previous experience desirable.
Languages	Tajik essential. English desirable.

Salary: Starting Gross salary is 3057 TJS.
