The United Nations in Tajikistan, together with the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and partners, promotes the employment of persons with disabilities.

The United Nations in Tajikistan, in partnership with the Government of Tajikistan, American Chamber Tajikistan and the National Union of Persons with Disabilities, convened the Forum on Inclusive Employment in Dushanbe, bringing together representatives of government, UN Country Team, private sector, civil society, development partners and youth to advance disability-inclusive labor practices.
The Forum provided a platform to exchange practical experiences, identify challenges and promote solutions to expand employment opportunities for persons with disabilities in Tajikistan . Participants discussed policy frameworks, workplace accessibility, and the role of employers in fostering inclusive and diverse work environments.
Opening the Forum, UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Ms. Parvathy Ramaswami, underscored that inclusive employment is both a human rights imperative and a driver of sustainable economic growth. She highlighted that exclusion from the labor market carries significant social and economic costs, while inclusive workplaces unlock talent, innovation and productivity.
The Forum also marked the presentation of a Practical Guide on the Employment of Persons with Disabilities, developed with support from the United Nations. The Guide offers concrete recommendations to employers and practitioners, translating legal commitments into actionable steps and showcasing local examples of inclusive employment in practice.
The United Nations and partners reaffirmed their commitment to supporting disability inclusion across all sectors in Tajikistan, in line with the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy, and to working closely with national partners to ensure equal opportunities for all.
