In her opening remarks, UN Resident Coordinator Parvathy Ramaswami highlighted: “The validation of Tajikistan’s first comprehensive Country Gender Equality Profile that is designed as both an analytical and strategic tool, will inform the new gender-responsive UN Country Analysis and Cooperation Framework, support the implementation of Tajikistan’s national gender priorities, and strengthen dialogue with government and partners on fulfilling commitments under CEDAW, the Beijing Platform for Action, and the 2030 Agenda.”

The meeting also featured opening remarks by Safargul Bukhorizoda, Senior Specialist at the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Javohir Akobirova, Head of the International department of COWFA who praised the joint work within the 16 Days of Activism against GBV campaign. Her speech was followed by a technical presentation of the CGEP by Ms. Zulfiya Bakhtibekova, National Consultant.

The CGEP provides an evidence-based overview of the status of gender equality in Tajikistan and offers concrete recommendations to strengthen national policies, legal frameworks, and programmes that support women’s rights and prevent gender-based violence. Participants identified several concrete recommendations and actions to be incorporated in the CGEP prior to its finalization, reaffirming their commitment to coordinated national efforts to promote gender equality and empower all women and girls.
