UN and the Government of Tajikistan reviewed the results of the evaluation of the joint United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2023-2026

United Nations (UN) and the Government of Republic of Tajikistan hosted a Joint Steering Committee meeting to review the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2026 evaluation findings, conclusions and recommendations and to endorse its management response.
The Joint Steering Committee meeting convened representatives of line ministries, state organizations and UN entities that jointly implement current UN-Government cooperation agreement to review the progress, achievements, and lessons learned.
The evaluation assessed the UNSDCF contribution to national development results through the four interlinked Outcomes: Inclusive Human Development, Sustainable, inclusive, and green economic growth, Integrated management of climate and environmental risk, People-centered governance and rule of law.
The evaluation findings across Relevance, Coherence, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Impact and Sustainability highlighted the strong alignment of the UN support to the national development priorities reflected in the National Development Strategy 2016-2030, Mid-term Development programmes and the SDGs.
Mr. Ashurboy Solehzoda, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade praised the successful cooperation and partnership of the UN and the Government , and highlighted the importance of the UNSDCF in advancing the national priorities and the SDGs. He emphasized the shared commitment of the UN and the Government to ensure that the UNSDCF remains an overarching document for the UN System to respond to evolving needs and priorities and creates opportunities for the people of Tajikistan, leaving no one behind.
“The UNSDCF evaluation was not only a process of accountability, but also a collective reflection on how we work together as the UN system, how our shift towards a stronger strategic partnership works. Being our first Cooperation Framework, the evaluation highlighted how we collaborate with the government, development partners, CSOs, private sector and other stakeholders to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and address the priorities of the National Development Strategy 2030.” said Ms. Parvathy Ramaswami, UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan in her opening remarks.
The Joint Steering Committee meeting also featured a presentation of the Roadmap of the new UNSDCF 2027–2030, outlining the timeline and milestones of formulation and called all partners for close engagement and support.
The endorsement of the Evaluation Management Response marked a joint commitment by the UN Country Team and the Government of Republic of Tajikistan to translate the evaluation’s recommendations into concrete actions. It will ensure that the next UN cooperation agreement with Tajikistan builds on the achievements and lessons of the current frameowork and further enhances joint contribution and impact. The new UNSDCF will be formulated for the four years period and aligned with the national priorities and the Mid-Term Development Programme of Tajikistan 2026-2030.
