Request for Expression of Interest

TRANSLATOR / INTERPRETER

(Russian and English languages)

The Government of Tajikistan has asked the World Bank to support the government's efforts to address the sector's problems and is currently preparing a project on rural water supply and sanitation. The Project Development Objectives (PDOs) are to help the Government of Tajikistan to: (i) strengthen the capacity of institutions in the water supply and sanitation sector; and (ii) improve access to water supply and sanitation services in selected regions. Preliminary locations of the project area are: (i) inter-district water supply system of Vakhsh group, covering six districts of South Khatlon (Boktar, Vakhsh, Balkhi, Sarband, Dasti, Jaihun); Vose water supply system; (iii) and water supply schemes of Dangara-Temurmalik (Kangurt), located in the southern part of Khatlon region of Tajikistan.

According to the order of the Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the implementation of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project is entrusted to the Project Management Unit for Municipal (Communal) Infrastructure Development in the Republic of Tajikistan.

For the implementation of the Project, the PMU will need to hire appropriate key and technical staff. At the moment, the PMU intends to hire a Translator / Translator.

In this regard, the Project Management Unit invites you to provide an expression of interest to fill the vacant position of the Translator / Interpreter. Interested persons must provide information indicating the qualifications required to perform the services (CV, curriculum vitae, copy of passport, copy of diploma, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's/Specialist’s degree in Philology or other related field;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Russian, Tajik, and English;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in translating documents for World Bank financed projects (bidding documents, bid evaluation reports, contracts, etc.) from English into Russian and vice versa;
  • Knowledge of the following area of study for specialized translation work is preferred and advantageous:

     Civil Construction

     Water Supply and Sanitation;

     Economics;
  • Knowledge of MS Office, including MS Word, MS Excel MS PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
  • Ability to create high-quality high-level content;
  • Demonstrated willingness to work as part of a team in a multinational environment.
